A marriage and inheritance contract ensures that the surviving spouse can continue to live according to their accustomed standard of living. A marriage and inheritance contract also prevents the child and adult protection authorities (KESB) from intervening, as well as disputes between the heirs.

In order to draw up a marriage and inheritance contract, the last tax return and a list of the assets brought into the marriage as well as gifts and inheritances during the marriage and all copies of identity documents are required.

For a marriage and inheritance contract to be valid, it must be publicly notarized by a notary.
